Open Source MD

About

I have moved to www.medaholic.com

Hi, I’m your average medical student. I started OpenSourceMD as a blog to document interesting ideas, strange stories and personal thoughts I have over the next four years and beyond. I hope that I can look back four years from now at these posts and still realize that I have my optimism and ideals that lead me to this profession. Through recording my memories down and reflecting on my personal growth, perhaps I will gain a better understanding of medicine.

The other part of starting OpenSourceMD is that the Medicine of the 21st century will require collaborative efforts fromĀ  physicians, nurses, therapists, assistants and patients. I borrowed the idea of OpenSource from software development as my theme for this site. Everyone should be allowed to see how medicine is practiced, from how we diagnose diseases, how we treat them, all the way down to how health care workers get paid. By sharing the “code” with everyone, it is my hope that collectively we can edit and improve how we deliver health care. One of the first things I will be putting on this site is information on the admissions process and being a pre-med (since these are the two topics I am most familiar with at this point)
